Pr Connection: Tiger Commercial and PR

While I watched the Masters this past week, I really wanted to watch Phil Mickelson win, but also to see how people would react to Tiger.  However, I noticed that many people were very excited to have him back.  People were very supportive of him, which would not be the case for so many other people who may do the same thing.  This is because of the positive media attention Tiger has had in the past.  He has been known as one of the best golfers of the decade and one of the highest paid.  Even though many of his sponsors have dropped him, Nike is using public relations to build his image again.  The new Tiger Woods commercial that aired right before the Masters, was to promote a semi-positive image of him.  Here is the commercial:

  2. Hey Brittany,
I also watched the Masters, but I didn’t get a chance to see this video. Actually, this was the first time I had seen it. I think that it’s a really creepy that they used his father that passed away. I did think that this commercial was a great route for Nike to take. They used his father to “scold” him for his adultery scandal. I think that this was a great way to communicate his wrong doings to his audience and possibly get Tiger’s image back on the right tracks. I still have a problem that it’s not Tiger actually speaking.
